Principal Questions
Is VHS registered with the Ministry of Education in order to offer Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) credits?
Yes, our Mident # is 665681
Is VHS associated with a public board?
No, we are a private school.
If a Principal were to use VHS for a low-subscribed course at the Principal's home school, who would grant the credit?
Either. Your school could use its teacher and grant the credit. VHS can brand our courses to your school, so that it seamlessly acts as an extension of your school. We could also use our teachers and grant the credit and issue the OST. This is the manner which usually occurs.
Does a partnering school have to use its own teachers or does VHS supply the teacher?
We supply both the teacher and the course online. Some schools see a benefit in having an on-site advisor to assist the students, but this is not a requirement.
Do students need to login at a particular time?
No, students can login any time and from any place as long as they have access to the Internet. They may login when your school specifies.
Does VHS require a particular minimum enrolment from our school?
No, there are no minimum enrolment requirements. If you have one student who needs one course then we can supply that course. If VHS is to brand the courses to your school, then this would be negotiated.
Is there a different price structure if we buy a number of seats in a credit course? Or a number of credit courses?
No. As far as we are aware, our tuition rate is the lowest in existence, when comparing the quality of our courses and teaching staff, thus rates are fixed. This being said however, if a school is seeking 100+ credits, then there may be room to negotiate the rate.
Is there a need for additional resources that haven't been mentioned?
No, not usually. We have a link on our site to Alpha Textbooks where the students can order additional resources online and have them delivered to their school or home. These resources are not required, although some excepts exist with English courses and Data Management Math where a graphing calculator is required.
Where is the course loaded: on the VHS server or on our school's server?
The courses are loaded on VHS's server.
Do we have to wait until the beginning of a semester to begin?
No, VHS employs a model of continuous intake which means a student may begin a course any day of the year.
