On September 1, 2019, 126 participants, 35 volunteers, and a crowd of spectators came together for the 7th annual Run4Kids. Each year this event is presented by Virtual High School to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario. This year’s run was in support of Jennica, a 16-year-old living with kidney disease. Jennica’s wish is to visit a theme park in Orlando, Florida, and we raised over $12,600 dollars to help make her wish come true. This past Monday, representatives from Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario travelled to Bayfield for the cheque presentation.

Before the race, Jennica’s mother shared her family’s inspiring story of strength and resilience. It was a moving reminder of why everyone had gathered to make Jennica’s wish a reality. Nicki Darbyson, a local fitness coach, led participants through a short warm-up before the race began at 9 a.m. As participants crossed the finish line, they refueled with refreshments and snacks provided by local businesses, including The Pink Flamingo Bakery, Shopbike Coffee Roasters, Bayfield Foodland, and Fairholme Dairy.

We were impressed by the community support for Run4Kids. Our sponsors and volunteers help to make this annual event a great success. We would like to thank everyone who helped with promotion, volunteered, or donated, and of course, all of our runners and walkers. We would like to specifically thank the following Run4Kids sponsors and donors:
