It is commonly referred to as summer school, but taking courses over the summer with Virtual High School (VHS) is no different from taking courses with us at any other time of year. VHS offers ongoing enrollment and self-paced courses, allowing students to decide when to enroll and how they complete their courses, whether that be during the summer, after work, while travelling, or as a full-time commitment. Once students enroll, they have 18 months to complete their course(s) at their own pace. In other words, VHS adapts to the schedules of our students. This makes our school an ideal option to upgrade marks or earn additional Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) credits during the summer.

Why take a summer course with VHS?

  • To repeat a successfully completed course and upgrade a mark for post-secondary applications (Learn more about upgrade courses)
  • To repeat a failed course in order to earn the credit
  • To free up the timetable for next year by taking a course the day school does not offer or taking a course out of interest
  • To reach ahead from elementary school to prepare for the first year of high school

All VHS courses follow the Ontario Curriculum and are approved by the Ontario Ministry of Education. Upon successful completion of a course, the student is granted an OSSD credit. VHS will send the report to the student’s high school where the course will be added to the student’s Ontario Student Transcript. We can also inform the OUAC, OCAS, or a post-secondary institution that a student is taking the course with us – just ask us to!
