Mr. Kevin Mlot was born and raised in the Niagara Region of Ontario. He received a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo in 2001, followed by a Bachelor of Science from Brock University in 2003. Mr. Mlot loves to travel—he has been to more than 26 countries! His love for travel led him to attend Christchurch College of Education in New Zealand in 2004. Here, he became qualified to teach math and physical education.
At VHS, Mr. Mlot teaches PPL1O, PPZ3C, MCF3M, and MHF4U. He says, “I have loved every minute of it, especially getting to learn about and teach students from all over the world.” In addition to teaching at VHS, Mr. Mlot is also an occasional teacher with the Niagara Catholic District School Board – and has been for nearly 12 years.
When he’s not teaching, Mr. Mlot is either watching or playing sports. His favourite teams include the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Toronto Blue Jays, the Toronto Raptors, and the Buffalo Bills. He also enjoys playing various sports, among them, hockey, golf, slo-pitch, lawn bowling, volleyball, and mountain biking. In the past, he competed in the Niagara Men’s Amateur Golf Tour! Last year, he qualified and participated in the Provincial Championships in Men’s Triples in lawn bowling. He is also a provincially certified Ontario Volleyball Association referee.
When he’s not involved in sports, Mr. Mlot is a frequent blood donor who has donated more than 50 times! With O negative blood, Mr. Mlot is a universal donor who has surely saved several lives. In October, Mr. Mlot married Lorraine, who is also a teacher. Mr. Mlot has a niece and nephew with whom he enjoys spending time.
Mr. Mlot loves life! As a very light-hearted individual, Mr. Mlot says, “Have fun, and live life to its fullest!”
