Curriculum Coordinator – Science

The Position: Curriculum Coordinator of Science Department – Full Time

Virtual High School is offering an exciting opportunity for an innovative and creative individual who is excited to enter a new generation of education! Virtual High School seeks a qualified applicant to join its growing administrative team as a Curriculum Coordinator of Science. In general, this individual will be responsible for maintaining and improving the course content and presentation within the science department at Virtual High School. This will be a full time position offering a benefits package after a 3-month probationary period, in addition to an opportunity to lead other professionals and assist in curriculum development and instructional design.

Salary will be commensurate on education and experience.

The Qualified Candidate will be:

  • A certified Intermediate/Senior teacher that is deeply familiar with at least 2/3 teachables (biology, chemistry and physics).
  • A member of the Ontario College of Teachers
  • Deeply familiar with modern classroom and online pedagogical practices in these disciplines.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Ontario secondary school curriculum, policies, and assessment and evaluation protocols, including the Growing Success (2010) document.
  • Familiar with MicroSoft Office™, Adobe Reader X™, and general Internet skills.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage and coordinate 15+ autonomous professional staff
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate with the public and other professionals
  • Familiarity with different curricula and pedagogies

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • 5 or more years of teaching experience
  • Experience using Adobe Dreamweaver ™and HTML programming
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of computer studies
  • Experience in curriculum development and/or program planning
  • Experience in multiple educational jurisdictions
  • Demonstrated experience with online learning management systems

The Location: Bayfield, Ontario
