Alex Bogorin was born in 1992 in Sibiu, Romania and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1998. He attends St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School in London, Ontario. Alex has been paddling for seven years and is now training with the Mississauga Canoe Club due to the loss of coaching, paddlers and water in London. He is extremely passionate about the sport and feels that he has what it takes to continue and succeed. Alex is a strong believer that performing mentally is more valuable than performing physically.
Alex is a member of the Ontario Provincial Canoe/Kayak Team and has consecutively won two Provincial Championships. He is ranked fifteenth in Canada for his age group (16) as of last year. He has attended two National Championships and is to attend the August 2008 National this year in Halifax. Alex has also been invited to train with the Ontario Provincial Team in a two week camp in Florida as well as a full week camp in North Bay this coming season.
Alex earned a silver medal at the Ontario Summer Games in Ottawa this year and will represent Canada at the Cone Marathon in Czech Republic this September. His short term goals include placing at the Nationals and finishing high school with an 85% average. His long term goals include making the Canadian National Team and going to University. Alex’s ultimate dream is to one-day, race in the Olympics.
