Teacher Development Supports Student Success

People always ask what sets us apart from other online schools. We usually mention three things: our flexible model, exceptional customer service, and outstanding teachers.
Our certified teachers help VHS students to succeed every day. Because our students depend on our teachers, VHS offers annual professional development opportunities to our teaching staff. It’s how we make sure that they are equipped to help students get the most out of their online courses.
We’ve been holding PD days for our teachers since 2007. In past years, they’ve been invited to attend a one-day event featuring a full schedule of sessions. Presentations usually focus on design updates, multimedia advances, policies and procedures, business strategies, and exciting new initiatives. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our teachers to connect, collaborate, and learn from one another.
This year, VHS is trying something new—we are going online! Throughout the month of October, we will be holding a series of professional development sessions in online meeting rooms. In these sessions, our teachers will have the opportunity to participate in inspired discussions about important topics, such as greater support for students whose first language is not English. The series will conclude with a panel discussion featuring our principal and vice principals.
Our teachers play an essential role in the outstanding online education we deliver. That’s why we’re making it easier for them to attend VHS professional development activities this fall. We look forward to connecting and working to further boost student success.
