Julie O’Rourke Memorial Scholarship Application Form

In recognition of a beloved former VHS staff member and incredible artist, the Julie O’Rourke Memorial Scholarship was created to offset expenses for students pursuing post-secondary studies in fine arts or design programs.

Eligibility Criteria and Scholarship Details

  • Students must provide proof that they have been accepted, or conditionally accepted, to a program in fine arts or design at the post-secondary level.
  • This scholarship is restricted to current VHS students or those who have successfully completed a VHS course within the past 3 years.
  • A portfolio of artwork in any medium must be provided as part of the application process.
  • The scholarship is for $1,000 CAD.
  • One recipient will be chosen each year.

Application Process

Applications are due on or before August 1st each year. Once the recipient has been selected, all applicants will be contacted on or before August 31st.

After submitting your completed application form, you will be prompted to upload your supporting documentation. Please be sure to include the following:

  • Copy of acceptance letter to a post-secondary fine arts or design program
  • Portfolio

Submission of the Julie O’Rourke Memorial Scholarship Application Form implies acceptance of the following:

  1. The applicant certifies that all information provided on this application is complete and accurate.
  2. The applicant consents to the use of the personal information provided on this application or accompanying documentation for the purpose of determining eligibility for the scholarship.
  3. All information provided in connection with this application is subject to further substantiation by Virtual High School.
  4. The applicant understands that if any information is found to be untrue, then the current, as well as any subsequent applications will be considered invalid.
  5. As a result of any fraudulent misrepresentation on the application, the applicant agrees to reimburse Virtual High School for any funds received.
  6. The decision of Virtual High School with respect to scholarship recipients will be considered final and will be above challenge from any individual applicant.
