The Canada Day Challenge is put on by the Government of Canada every year to give young people across the country the opportunity to share their ideas on what makes them proud to be Canadian. This is a wonderful opportunity for individuals between 8 and 18 years of age to express their creativity.

The winners will receive really generous prizes, including an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Ottawa to celebrate Canada Day on Parliament Hill on the 150th anniversary of Confederation. This trip will include the opportunity to meet some of the most inspiring Canadians and to tour museums, art galleries, and the Parliament Buildings.

If you’re thinking about taking on the Challenge, consider entering in one or all of these 3 categories:

  • DRAW IT! Draw, paint, and sketch! Draw inspiration from Canada’s past and present to create a colorful poster design.
  • SNAP IT! Use smartphones or cameras to capture evocative images, then submit your best photographs.
  • WRITE IT! Express your thoughts about what Canada means to you in an original short story, poem, or essay.
