The University of Waterloo has deadlines approaching for two exciting workshops directed at young women.

Think About Math

The Think About Math workshop exposes young women to opportunities in the field of mathematics. Female UWaterloo math graduates will meet with participants and answer questions. Sessions run by faculty members will explore a variety of real-world applications of mathematics.

Dates:

    • Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Toronto Prep School
    • Friday, April 12, 2019, at the University of Waterloo
    • Saturday, May 11, 2019, at York House School in Vancouver

Eligibility: Females in Grades 9 or 10

Fee: $25

    • Meals provided
    • No additional expenses

Workshop in Computer Science for Young Women

The CEMC Workshop in Computer Science for Young Women is for young women and people of other under-represented genders considering a career in computer science. It is a unique opportunity designed to spark enthusiasm in students with little or no previous exposure to computer science.

Eligibility: Females (or another gender identity under-represented in computer science) in Grade 9 or 10 who currently attend a Canadian high school or middle school.

Dates: May 11–May 18, 2019, at the University of Waterloo

Fee: $150

    • Accommodations, meals, and other expenses are included at no extra cost.
    • Air fare expenses will also be paid by the CEMC.
